Composition of the uninterruptible power supply

Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS): A power supply that consists of a battery pack, an inverter, and other circuits that provide high-quality AC power in the event of a power outage. It can effectively protect precision instruments. It has a stable voltage, similar to a voltage regulator.

Basic composition and function

The general UPS power supply is mainly composed of a charger, an inverter, a static switch, a battery a control part.

The functions of each part of the UPS power supply are briefly described as follows:

1. The role of the charger

The energy is absorbed from the main power source, and the DC power is generated through the bridge thyristor rectifier circuit and the RC filter circuit, and the DC power is supplied to the battery and the inverter.

2. The main role of the inverter

Convert the DC power from the charger or battery to an AC output. Some also call the inverter a DC/AC converter, which is the core component of the UPS power supply. The performance of the inverter is good, the output waveform, efficiency, reliability, transient response, noise, volume, Weight and other aspects have a decisive impact. The performance of a UPS power supply is mainly determined by the performance of the inverter.

3. The main role of static switches

The main function of the static switch is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the UPS power system. When the UPS power supply is normally supplied, the inverter outputs AC power as the main power source of the power equipment (or is directly supplied to the power equipment by the commercial power supply through the voltage regulator). When the following occurs:

1)When starting with electrical equipment or a surge overload occurs;

2)When the inverter fails.

Through the voltage detection signal, the static switch quickly transfers the load from the inverter power supply to the mains supply. Once it returns to normal, after detecting that the mains and the inverter voltage are synchronized and at the same frequency, it is converted to the inverter. The static switch is the key equipment to complete the conversion and ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply.

4. The main role of the battery

A battery is a device that stores electrical energy. The DC power source charges the battery during normal power supply. It converts electrical energy into chemical energy for storage. When the mains is interrupted, the UPS power supply will rely on the energy stored in the battery to output DC power to maintain the normal operation of the inverter. The chemical energy is converted into electrical energy for use by the inverter.

5. The main function of the control part The control part plays an important role in the UPS power supply. Through reasonable control, the UPS power supply can provide stable and reliable power to the power equipment according to the design requirements.
