The development of technology is fast, and the solar controllers are all kinds of things, but if we want to choose the right MPPT solar controller, just pay attention to the current of the solar panel and the voltage of the solar panel.

One: The voltage of the solar panel

We just need to pay attention to the working voltage and short circuit voltage of the solar panel, and work voltage: 18V, 36V and so on. There is also a short circuit voltage. If it is 18V, the short circuit voltage of the solar panel should be 22V, and the 36V should be 42. We can choose the corresponding solar controller according to the working voltage of solar energy.

Two: the current of the solar panel

The size of the solar controller we often say is that the solar controller has a number of safe current (the maximum charging current), the general controller will have 10A, 20A, 30A, and some large power will have 50A, 60A and even more. When choosing, the current value of the solar panel is only a value, otherwise the controller will be damaged. So when I choose the controller, I recommend solar panel current. If it is 6A, we should choose 10A controller.

MPPT solar controller voltage of about 0~150V, PWM solar controller voltage is generally 0~55V, as long as it is within these voltage values can find a suitable solar controller, of course, if these voltages are higher, it can be directly negotiated with the manufacturer.

Installing a solar controller must know these things! In a solar power system, the solar controller is the core component, and the system configuration must conform to the requirements of the solar charging controller, otherwise it may cause the whole system not to work or the system is inefficient. It will burn the controller directly and cause serious consequences. Here are a few things that must be known about the safe installation of solar controllers.

1. Solar panel specification

The specifications of solar panels mainly consider two parameters, power and open circuit voltage. The power determines the size of the charging current as long as it does not exceed the rated charging current of the controller.

Open circuit voltage: PWM and MPPT controllers have different requirements for open circuit voltage. PWM controller charges 12V solar cells with open circuit voltage of 20-22V. The 24V system is 2 times.

MPPT controller: solar panels input power and open circuit voltage as long as less than the rated value of solar controller can be. It has nothing to do with the voltage of the battery.

2. Load parameters

The common system controller outputs DC voltage, and the output voltage is close to the battery voltage. The maximum load current can not be greater than the specified value of the controller.

If it is a solar street lamp controller, we must also consider the working voltage of the LED lamp, and whether the controller needs LED lamp driver function.

3. Battery parameters

According to the requirements of solar controller, the battery must consider the following parameters: battery type, battery voltage and battery capacity.

Type of battery: lead-acid battery, lithium battery

Battery voltage: common 12V/24V/48V

Battery capacity: it depends on the working time and power of the load.

The configuration of the solar power generation system involves a lot of content, so it will be more reasonable to consult the solar controller manufacturer and assist the design of the system as far as possible before the project is done.
