According to the prediction by Fuji Economic Research Corporation of Japan, the global market scale of energy storage battery will expand 4.7 times in 2025 to 47 billion 980 million yuan in 2016. Among them, the household energy storage battery market will reach 12 billion 800 million yuan, and the commercial energy storage battery market will reach 9 billion 440 million yuan. The large-scale energy storage battery market for renewable energy grid will reach 25 billion 740 million yuan.


In May 2016, the Australian political group, Greens, launched a 5 - year battery - storage support program that hopes to spread battery energy into ordinary households and industrial and commercial users and achieve a target of 90% in Australia's renewable energy generation rate in 2030. 1 million 200 thousand families are expected to be supported in the next five years.


Britain is also very promising for the prospects for the energy storage market.  According to the UK Renewable Energy Association, as of August 2016, there were 35 separate grid energy storage projects in the UK, and at least 1500 small household energy storage devices were installed. In April 2016, the NDRC and the Energy Bureau jointly issued the energy technology revolutionary innovation action plan (2016-2030), which requires the study of energy storage technology for power grid peak efficiency, distributed and Microgrid and electric vehicle applications, and master key core techniques in each link of energy storage technology.


In June 2016, the Energy Bureau issued the notice on promoting energy storage to participate in the pilot work of the supplementary service compensation (market) mechanism in the "Three North" area. Power generation side energy storage can participate in peak regulation, frequency modulation and ancillary services market transactions, according to the contract price of power plant settlement. The user side energy storage charge can automatically purchase low valley electricity, and the discharge power can be sold to the power users nearby.


It is estimated that by the end of 2020, the total installed capacity of China's electric energy storage and thermal energy storage technology will reach 44 gigawatts. The industry generally believes that China's energy storage will continue to maintain a strong growth trend, and at present, China's energy storage industry to a real commercial application chain has formed.


The "distributed photovoltaic + energy storage" business model will be the focus of China's future energy construction. Once this idea is practiced, it can realize the economic operation of the spontaneous use of electricity and surplus electricity on the side of the residents and commercial users.
