Renewable energy generation capacity and leveling cost in various regions of the world: solar thermal power generation

In 2017, the world added 0.1 gigawatt of photothermal power generation. By the end of 2017, the installed capacity of global photothermal power generation will be 4.9 gigawatt, including 2.3 gigawatt in the European Union, 1.7 gigawatt in the United States and 0.2 gigawatt in India.

The weighted leveling costs (US Dollars/KWh), investment costs (US Dollars/KW) and operational capacity coefficients for geothermal power generation in various regions of the world in 2017 are as follows:

Africa:

The leveling cost is US $0.29 / kWh, the investment cost is US $7841 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.39.

Asia:

The leveling cost is US $0.21 / kWh, the investment cost is US $4110 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.28.

Europe:

The leveling cost is US $0.29 / kWh, the investment cost is US $7402 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.32.

Middle East:

The leveling cost is US $0.32 / kWh, the investment cost is US $6373 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.29.

North America:

The leveling cost is US $0.26 / kWh, the investment cost is US $7002 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.35.

Oceania:

The leveling cost is US $0.21 / kWh, the investment cost is US $6673 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.12.

China:

The leveling cost is US $0.12 / kWh, the investment cost is US $3223 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.28.

India:

The leveling cost is US $0.21 / kWh, the investment cost is US $4228 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.28.

U.S.A:

The leveling cost is US $0.26 / kWh, the investment cost is US $7002 / kW, and the capacity coefficient is 0.35.

As can be seen from the above table, the life cycle benchmark cost of photothermal power generation is the lowest in China, followed by India, the highest in the Middle East, followed by Europe, Africa and North America
